Targeting students, this in-class presentation explores the world of WORM COMPOSTINGAlso known as vermiculture, worms recycle food scraps and other organic material and produce a nutrient rich soil. Students learn how this composting form differs from others and the many benefits it provides.

YOUTH ENGAGEMENT

WORM COMPOSTING 101 is presented at no charge. Presentation length is 45 minutes and is available to public schools, private schools and home school associations. Presented throughout the year, presentation availability is dependent upon KGIB staff schedules.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

A “hands on” activity, KGIB’s portable worm composting bin provides opportunity for up close viewing of the worm composting process.

 

Students are taught worm composting basics and quizzed on their knowledge of our soil crawling friends. Options for the assembly of a classroom worm composting bin are available by prior educator coordination.
