business recycling
Business recycling is available via both Waste Management and Republic Services. Condo associations, apartment complexes, hotels/motels, non-profit organizations, churches and all types of businesses can receive business recycling services for a monthly fee. A business should look at a recycling provider as a partner and understand the parameters of the recycling service. By working together to create a recycling plan, the business and service provider can come to an arrangement that is both easily managed and cost-effective.
Keep Golden Isles Beautiful also offers direct consultation to businesses regarding individualized recycling plan development and best practices. Our staff is happy to talk with a representative from your company over the phone, at our offices or at your business. Review FAQ's HERE.

Television set recycling / disposal
Keep Golden Isles Beautiful makes it easy to recycle your television set.
TV RECYCLING -
KGIB office TV recycling program ($25 fee per TV set, NO projection or console units; *** call 279-1490 to make drop-off appointment)

TOTAL COST $25 per set: A $20 fee per set is charged by the recycling vendor; after the units are disassembled, a small quantity of hazardous material remains that incurs a disposal fee. That fee is passed on to the community member dropping off their TV set for recycling. KGIB stores/transports TV sets until/to our next recycling event for an extra $5 per unit.

Local Golden Isles thrift stores typically do NOT accept television sets; a quick phone call to the charity of your choice can verify.

TV DISPOSAL - The landfill accepting both City/County trash DOES accept televisions sets. TV sets fitting inside of a City/County residential curbside trash can will be accepted as trash and disposed of in the landfill.

For larger television sets, two additional DISPOSAL options exist:
-
Sets can be dropped off to one of Republic’s two community drop off locations, for a $35 per truckload fee: 267-6400.
-
TV sets CAN be included in a City or County bulk item trash pickup. To request a bulk item trash pickup, call: City/267-3703; County/554-7111.
Improper handling and disposal of hazardous wastes is against the law and can result in fines and expensive cleanup costs. These wastes include pesticides, paint, motor oil, solvents, gasoline, freon, antifreeze, batteries, cleaners and many others. Help us keep our community clean. Use proper and legal methods to dispose of any hazardous wastes.

Contact Keep Golden Isles Beautiful or the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division local office 912-264-7284 with specific hazardous waste disposal questions.

HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSAL
Scrap tires must be disposed of properly according to local and state laws.

Pretty please DO NOT DUMP them on streets, roads, highways or in waterways. It is also illegal to burn any scrap tires unless properly permitted. Help us keep our community clean. Recycle your tires with a business that is legally permitted to collect or transport scrap tires. The cost is minimal (usually around $4/each) to properly dispose of tires.
