Free native seedlings will be available (while supplies last) and non-working holiday string lights can be dropped off for recycling, January 6-10, 9AM-5PM at Old City Hall (1229 Newcastle Street, downtown Brunswick).

“For many local families, this annual recycling activity is a holiday tradition that offers an easy solution for tree disposal and promotes a sustainable community. With the help of the Brunswick Downtown Development Authority, we are again able to provide the holiday light drop off inside of Old City Hall in January as well,” said Lea King-Badyna, Keep Golden Isles Beautiful executive director."

Christmas tree recycling programs like Bring One for the Chipper support eco-friendly holiday efforts and Chipper trees will be recycled into biofuel, mulch and fish habitats. According to the National Christmas Tree Association (www.realchristmastrees.org) 98% of real Christmas trees are grown on farms throughout all 50 states and Canada. Real trees are a renewable, recyclable resource. On average, for each tree harvested, three seedlings are planted in its place. An estimated 40-45 million Christmas trees are planted annually throughout North America, absorbing carbon dioxide, producing oxygen and supporting local economies.
