June City of Brunswick Tire Amnesty Event Slated

BRUNSWICK, GA (May 16, 2024) – The City of Brunswick will hold its first ever Tire Amnesty Event in June. Residents are encouraged to turn in their old vehicle tires for free from 8AM-2PM on June 18, 20, 21 and 8AM-NOON on June 22 (rules & regulations apply). The takeback area will be staged inside the City’s fenced lot at 821 Bay Street (corner of Prince & Bay Street).

“We are excited to offer this opportunity to City of Brunswick residents,” said Brunswick City Manager Regina McDuffie. “We expect the Tire Amnesty Event to help reduce the number of illegally dumped tires within City limits.”

“Removing and properly disposing of dumped tires is costly in both time and tax dollars,” said Brunswick Assistance Public Works Director Rick Charnock. “Not only are dumped tires unsightly and costly but they also pose public health hazards, holding standing water and breeding mosquitos.”

ALLOWED:

  • Car Tires

  • SUV Tires

  • Light Truck Tires

  • Semi Truck Tires

NOT ALLOWED:

  • Commercial Tires

  • Competitive Racing Slicks

  • Farm Equipment Tires

  • NO RIMS

REQUIREMENTS:

  • City of Brunswick Residents ONLY

  • Proof of Residence REQUIRED

  • MAXIMUM 3 Tires per Vehicle

  • Tires MUST be CLEAN & DRY

  • Non-commercial Tires ONLY

  • Tires accepted during stated dates/times ONLY

  • All other tires left before or after will be treated as an illegal dumping violation
