KGIB RECEIVES $2,500 SANRA WEBB LEGACY GRANT FOR COMMUNITY ORCHARD TREE REPLACEMENT

BRUNSWICK, GA (December 4, 2024) - Keep Golden Isles Beautiful is the recipient of a $2,500 Sandra Webb Legacy Grant from the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation for tree replacement in Brunswick Community Orchard locations. The grant was established in honor of long-time local affiliate director Sandra Webb.

Ten of the twelve City orchards have been replanted with a total of 23 citrus trees, replacing those vandalized or otherwise ceasing to thrive. Community partner Coastal Greenery, Inc. sources the trees at wholesale prices and installs them at no cost.

Via grant funds and private donations, Keep Golden Isles Beautiful has established twelve Community Orchards in public spaces within the City of Brunswick and one in Glynn County on St. Simons Island.

Each of the orchards is located near heavily pedestrian traveled areas and the public is welcome to enjoy the resulting citrus fruit. An orchard location map can be found at KGIB.ORG
